As this day comes to a close, and after watching the movies "United 93" and "The World Trade Center", I sat back and thought about those events on this day, six years ago. As I was talking to fellow coworkers today, I was able to give an account of pretty much the entire day and what I was doing and where. It was a day that I will never be able to forget.
I remember when I first learned fo the events. I got up and did my usual thing, got a shower and dressed and ready for work. It was also a crystal clear day, not a cloud in the sky. You could see for miles. For whatever the reason, my Dad was home that day, sitting in his chair watching the TV. I recall looking over at the TV and seeing what appeared to be one of the World Trade Center towers on fire, my first thought was my Dad was watching a movie, cause it just didn't seem real to me. So I asked him what he was watching and he had told me a jet crashed into the building, but I still didn't believe him at first, until I heard a familiar news anchor voice being Tom Brokaw. Just as that happened, the 2nd plane hit the other tower, and it just was all to shocking to me, and to this day, some of me still does not believe it happened, but it did. Never had I ever seen a store so quiet than Wal-Mart was that day, and all we did all day was the coverage from CNN on the TV's.
Never have I ever heard the skies so quiet, almost peaceful in some aspects. Being this close to the Pittsburgh International Airport and not hear any airplanes is just way to weird and it lasted for a few days before they allowed flights to resume.
That day will be a day I will not be able to soon forget, and it should not be forgotten or the same thing, if not something worse, could happen again.
